About Constanzia : My name is Duquessa Constanzia and I’m a laurel from Lochac. I joined the SCA in the early 90s. I’m one of the patrons of the Iberian clothing prize. My persona is Spanish and I love capsule wardrobes so I could not resist this challenge! It’s so lovely to participate from the antipodes! I hope that by showing some of the interesting clothing from Spain, that others may find it interesting too.
Her Project: I’m still deciding which Iberian outfit I want. Do I want northern spanish with the crazy hats and choupines? Do I want mid c16th Spanish with crazy sleeves and choupines? I definately want choupines…. let’s start there!
About Marget : I have been in the sca on and off since 1989, and I have been sewing many of my own clothes both medieval and mundane for over 40 years, as well as sewing I am a retired jeweller. I chose this project because it will challenge me I wanted to create something more than a plain dress, doing all the beading which is something I have only been playing with for a few years, My SCA persona is German, and I have always enjoyed the arts and sciences side of the society, I have cooked quite a few feasts, do a bit of leatherwork and illumination and hope to tie all these interests into my outfit.
Her Project: I am planning to replicate the dress in the portrait Markgrafin Elisabeth von Baden from 1525, Germany, there will be a chemise, underdress, overdress and coif, as well as making the jewellery shown and a small painted box to store the jewellery in, and finally a pair of shoes, even though you cannot see them in the picture, everyone wore shoes, and I am basing them off extant shoes of the period. The outfit is for the next crown event we will be able to attend, and portrays a lady, i have wanted to create a beaded outfit for a while and this is the perfect motivation to take it from paper to reality,
