Best Heraldic Display – Period Style | Zaneta Baseggio | $25 gift card to a merchant of your choosing that is either an SCA merchant or one that provides supplies – no Walmart, but yes Fabrics Store. The merchant must be able to be accessed online. | Different cultures used heraldry differently and the SCA uses it in it’s own way. This prize is for the best period use of heraldry. This could be working heraldry into fabric (blockprinting, embroidering, applique, etc), tooling a leather pouch, making a pendant or badge. As long as you can point to an example that says “they did this to show off their heraldry,” it qualifies. Heraldry for this category is not restricted to period heraldry. You may use any SCA heraldry you are allowed to use – personal device/badge, group badge, populace badge, awards, etc. It just needs to be displayed in a historical way.
Best Heraldic Display – SCA Style | Zaneta Baseggio | $25 gift card to a merchant of your choosing that is either an SCA merchant or one that provides supplies – no Walmart, but yes Fabrics Store. The merchant must be able to be accessed online. | Different cultures used heraldry differently and the SCA uses it in it’s own way. This prize is for the best use of heraldry in an SCA context. The point of this prize is to encourage heraldic display regardless of culture or time period. What does that mean? Sometimes we use heraldry in a way that they never would have in period, but it’s common (and neat!) in the SCA. Or maybe it was something that we think they might have done, but we’re not sure. An example would be putting heraldry on a Norse apron dress (the Norse didn’t have heraldry as we know of it). Heraldry for this is not restricted to personal heraldry. You may use any SCA heraldry you are allowed to use – personal device/badge, group badge, populace badge, awards, etc.

This prize is available only to those in the US.
